She hasn’t slept through the night for a long time, says Julia Winter. “My nights are short and restless – and have been for weeks,” says the 37-year-old in an interview with t-online. After strangers allegedly set fire to a shed near her home in Bassum, Winter not only goes to bed scared, she’s angry. Anger at the possible arsonists, but also anger at the local population who would interfere, “although they have no idea”, she says.
It all started about a year ago when the erotic actress shot a sex clip in the small village church of St. Cosmas and Damianus in Lunsen (Verden district). The video went online soon after – and has had a major impact on Winter’s life ever since. The trained nurse consistently receives positive feedback from her fans, she says on t-online. In Bassum, in the Diepholz district where you live, with just over 16,000 inhabitants, the air is tense. And the porn actress is also threatened with legal consequences.
After the video went online, one person filed a complaint against Winter. She is accused of disrupting the religious service (section 167 of the Penal Code). The 37-year-old appealed against a writ of 1,500 euros from the public prosecutor’s office. Alternatively, she could have been locked up for 50 days. “It was a shock,” Winter said on t-online in November 2022. But the ‘real horror’ was still ahead of her.
Fire destroys tool shed
On the night of Tuesday, January 10, unknown perpetrators are said to have set fire to a wooden shed next to their home. At around 1:30 a.m., flames erupted from the four-by-four-metre-high shed, as can be seen on a video available on t-online. The voluntary fire brigade of Bassum writes in a statement that 32 emergency services were involved in the extinguishing work. After all, the operation took three hours.
Whether it was arson has now been determined by the police, who estimate the damage at around 7,000 euros. Julia Winter is convinced: “It was arson. I’m sure. I stopped believing in coincidences for a long time,” she says on t-online. Garden tools, her three-year-old boy’s toys, paint buckets and tools all became the victim of the fire, she sums up, which can all be replaced, says Winter.
But the flames, the fire service also reported, threatened to spread to the residential building. An old friend of Winter’s, who had looked after her child on the night of the fire and noticed the fire, was able to prevent worse.
Direct hostilities in place
According to Winters, the fire was just the “icing on the cake” of a slew of hostilities she had to experience. Shortly after a TV crew covered their porn shoot at the village church last year, Winter received a letter. The letter, available on t-online, is peppered with Bible verses and includes the statement, “Your sins have piled up to heaven.” The letter also includes an Internet address for Jehovah’s Witnesses.
The letter contains no concrete threats, but the letter leaves her with “a sick feeling”, says Winter. At least the sender knew Winter’s address.
During walks in the village, she had also been exposed to verbal animosities in recent months, Winter reports. Dog owners deliberately let their four-legged friends come close to them, some dogs would have bared their teeth. One woman, Winter recalls, is said to have said in this regard, “Don’t be surprised the dog reacts that way.”
Winter demands respect for her opinion
Winter, she confirmed in an interview with t-online, “can live very well with direct hostilities”. Involving your son and possibly accepting that the three-year-old will be harmed: “I am very shocked. That’s tough and very macabre!”
Despite all the hostilities, Winter is convinced that he has done nothing wrong. With the sex clip, she mainly wanted to draw attention to abuses in the church. And if it were up to her, she would gladly pay the fine for the banned video recording. “But not to church,” she emphasized in an interview with t-online in November.
She never wanted to hurt religious feelings. “Everyone makes their own decisions about religiosity. Do your thing, believe in who and what you want.” You have your own opinion on the subject of the church – “respect that!”
Winter: “I blew it and I’m sticking with it”
Despite all the negative experiences, she continues to work in the porn business. “Of course I will continue!” Other mothers are also active in eroticism, “it’s like any other job”. People would get involved “who have no idea”. They are all strangers you have never met, but will judge you.

When asked if she now regrets making the video in church, Winter firmly says, “I don’t regret anything!” She was “doing shit”, she knew that and she stuck with it. But, “The church just won’t do it!” According to Winter, “numerous abuse scandals were swept under the carpet”. The church as an institution can therefore “afford anything”.
To at least do something about the abuse, she donates all the income that the video generates from the Lunser church. How much that is remains unclear. At least you don’t earn a “penny” with it. The former pastor of the Lunsen parish, Anja Sievers, did not want to comment on the events by t-online when asked. An e-mail states succinctly: “We are not available for comments and/or information until further notice.”
Small glimmer of hope
At least there is a small glimmer of hope for winter. After her current landlord canceled the apartment due to personal needs, things are looking “pretty good” with a new place to stay.
Positive side effect: your son is no longer reminded of the fire every day. He talks about it a lot these days, especially when he sees the charred remains of the barn. Hope he sleeps better soon. Just like Julia Winter herself, who could use a “nightcap”.
