“The enemy lost 11 tanks, 17 military vehicles and four Bradyles from the US,” Russian army spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, 56, said proudly in his daily video on the situation on Thursday.
But that can’t be true. The US has agreed on a $2.8 billion arms package. Including 50 Bradley armored cars. But they were even sent to the Ukraine. Air Force Brigadier General Patrick Ryder announced on Tuesday that the Bradleys would be delivered in the coming weeks.
Did Konashenkov just make a mistake? Or, as is not uncommon in Russian propaganda, are facts presented here that do not correspond to reality?
If so, it’s probably Konashenkov’s second public hoax in a week. Only on Monday did he claim that the Russians had killed 600 Ukrainians in Krematorsk. Even pro-Russian military bloggers didn’t believe him.
“Why are you playing stupid?”
The house blessing in the Kremlin has also become crooked. Just yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov (53) tried to make it clear to Putin that ‘investment projects’ for Russian companies had already started. Putin complained that this was taking too long and that there were no contracts. “Why are you playing dumb?” the president humiliated his subordinates on camera.
Due to such dropouts, pundits have repeatedly raised the suspicion that Putin does not even know what is happening on the battlefield. Discouraging dates should be withheld or condoned altogether. This could also have happened again in Konashenkov’s situation report. (jwg)
