Austrian actor Florian Teichtmeister (43) has been charged with possession of child pornography.
The spokeswoman for the Vienna court confirmed on Friday that the trial of the Burgtheater, film and TV actor (“Corsage”, “Die Toten von Salzburg”) will take place on February 8. Teichtmeister will plead guilty in court and take full responsibility, his lawyer Michael Rami told the German news agency. “He confessed during the investigation and always cooperated with the authorities,” Rami wrote.

According to the indictment, the suspect had 58,000 files containing pornographic images of minors, some of whom were under the age of 14, the spokeswoman for the German news agency said. The public radio station Ö1 had previously reported on the case. Teichtmeister faces a prison sentence of up to two years for possession of these images.
His client had not committed any criminal offenses against other people himself, so it was a “purely” digital “crime,” Teichtmeister’s attorney wrote. The actor has been undergoing psychological treatment for two years, “with which he has been able to process his mental problems that have brought him into possession of the files in question”.
