Germany introduces mandatory tests for travelers from China

According to their information, the short-term amended entry scheme should be decided in the cabinet on Friday. This can be done through a so-called circular decision, without a cabinet meeting. The ordinance is expected to take effect at noon on Monday, she said.

Due to the rapidly rising corona figures in the People’s Republic, travelers from China must then submit at least one negative rapid antigen test of no more than 48 hours before departure to Germany. According to the information, this should be checked by the airlines. In addition, the authorities are planning spot checks upon landing. Like other countries, Germany also wants to examine the waste water from aircraft from China for possible new coronavirus variants.

With the mandatory test, Germany is implementing a recommendation from Brussels. After consultations on Wednesday evening, health experts from the 27 EU countries had strongly advised that such a duty be introduced.
