Search for heavily pregnant top banker (39) halted

The case of Alexandra R. (39) from Nuremberg (D) leaves the authorities with a loss: the head of the bank and eight months pregnant woman was last seen on December 9. She has since disappeared without a trace.

All searches by the police have so far turned up nothing. Only recently did the emergency services search the Main-Danube Canal in Nuremberg for the missing person. Together with cadaver dogs, sonar boats and divers, the channel was searched from Nuremberg harbor to the lock. As a police spokesperson said, the 39-year-old was not found.

After another failed operation, the police ended the search for Alexandra R. on Monday. No further searches are currently planned, it said.

She actually wanted to pick up her daughter from the nursery

Because the German lives near the Main-Danube Canal, the police focused their search on that. The emergency services had already searched parts of the canal in the past week.

Alexandra R’s disappearance made headlines across the country. The entrepreneur actually wanted to pick up her two-year-old daughter from the nursery more than three weeks ago. However, the pregnant woman never returned.

R. also left behind all her documents: her wallet, her pregnancy passport and her ID card. Investigators do not rule out a violent crime. The authorities are puzzling over her mysterious disappearance: the banker has many friends and a partner with whom she is expecting a child. (dzc)
