A marathon every day

The year 2022 had 365 days. That’s how many marathons 53-year-old Briton Gary McKee ran. A marathon every day. Every day 42,195 kilometers. For a good cause. “Records don’t count,” said McKee. “But to help people.” “Marathon Man” raised a nice amount for the fight against cancer.

McKee walked almost 15,500 kilometers in 2022. That’s almost half the way around the world. He has worn out 22 running shoes. He ran the last 365th marathon of the year in the rain in the North West of England where he lives. And he has achieved his goal. By New Year’s Eve, McKee had raised one million pounds (1.12 million Swiss francs) for a cancer foundation.

“Wow!” McKee responded on Twitter. What action will he come up with for 2023? The marathon marathon was not his first campaign in favor of charities. He has already climbed Kilimanjaro and flew over Brazil to collect donations. In 2017 he ran 100 marathons in 100 days, in 2021 he ran 110 marathons in 110 days. And apparently have a taste for it.
