A criminology student has been arrested as a murder suspect after four students were found dead in the US state of Idaho in November. He is accused of deliberately killing three students, US media reported, citing investigating authorities.
The 28-year-old, who is pursuing a doctorate in criminal justice and criminology from Washington State University, was arrested at his childhood home in Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
DNA technology helped track down the suspect, investigators told ABC News. By searching for his car, the police found the suspect in the neighborhood of his childhood home on the other side of the United States.
His university is located in the northwest of the US, near the border between Washington and Idaho, just a few miles from the small town of Moscow, where the four students of the University of Idaho were found dead in an apartment on November 13. Since the victims had been stabbed, police assumed murder.
Other backgrounds – such as answers to the question about the relationship between the arrested person and the victims – were not disclosed. According to the New York Times, the suspect in the Idaho murder is in custody in Pennsylvania. There will be a hearing on his extradition on Tuesday. (sda/dpa)
