Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley, reggae musician and grandson of Bob Marley, has passed away. This was confirmed by a relative of the music portal “Rolling Stone”. He was 31 years old.

Marley was found lifeless in a vehicle in the United States, journalist Abka Fitz-Henley reports on Twitter. The cause of death is still unclear. People close to the musician consider an asthma attack a possible cause of death.

Marley was born in Jamaica and moved to Florida in the United States at the age of 11. As a child he was surrounded by music, performing with his father Stephen Marley and with the group Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. In 2010, he released his first song «My Girl». Four years later, Marley released his first solo EP “Comfortable”.

Despite his famous family, Marley really wanted to go his own way: “I belong to the new generation of Marleys, but at the same time I am still experimenting,” he said in an interview with “Rolling Stone” in 2014. “My plan is to to do something new together with my roots.” The musician is survived by his wife and a daughter.
