The Czech government has warned against hoarding purchases of fever juices for children. The medicines would then be missing for those who really need them, Health Minister Vlastimil Valek said after a cabinet meeting in Prague on Wednesday. After weeks of children’s fever syrups being sold out almost everywhere in the Czech Republic, a supply of 300,000 packs containing the active ingredient ibuprofen is currently being distributed to pharmacies. This should solve the previous bottleneck before the Christmas holidays.
Valek had previously caused outrage with many parents with his advice. “If you call a hundred pharmacies, you will certainly find a number of stores where the drug is still available,” says the 62-year-old to news portal Seznam Zpravy. On the Nova television station, the minister assessed the delivery failures as “again not so dramatic”.
