The conflict between Serbia and Kosovo is coming to a head again. After sighting Serbian military convoys heading towards Kosovo, Serbia made an attempt to invade Kosovo with about 1,000 army members. Withdrawals are now circulating online again, which is concerning.
According to local media, the video shows Serb extremists trying to storm the Kosovo border. The demonstrators are said to have gathered on the Serbian side at the border crossing in Jarinje (Kosovo) to enter Kosovo from there. As the footage shows, dozens of demonstrators – masked and equipped with the Serbian flag – took part in the action. “Never a border, Kosovo is Serbia,” reads a banner.
“Stay with Russia”
According to local media, the Serbian right-wing group “National Patrol” has called for protest. In addition, the extremists would have received support from like-minded people from Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Rumors are also circulating on Twitter that there are pro-Russian supporters among the demonstrators. The phrase “Pray to God and stay with Russia” was written on a banner.
Meanwhile, the NATO-led Kfor peacekeeping force is said to have placed barbed wire on Kosovo soil near the stricken border crossing, blocking passage. (dzc)
