Another war bomb defused in Heidelberg

Earlier, after the bomb was found, thousands of people had to leave their homes because their condition required “defuse as quickly as possible”.

The bomb was discovered during construction work in the Heidelberg Bahnstadt. According to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior, the evacuation area near the main station was “even larger than last Friday” when a bomb had to be defused. More than 7000 people have their houses in it.

After the bomb was found, the city of Heidelberg asked residents to search for “alternative accommodation”. The emergency shelters set up in parallel may not be able to house all those affected, she warned. It was originally believed that defusing could take late into the night. Shortly before midnight, however, the police gave permission to defuse the bomb.

A week ago, during construction work near the train station in Heidelberg, a 250 kilogram bomb from the Second World War was found and defused. The second bomb discovered on Thursday was only a few feet away.
