Black ice foils adhesives for air conditioning

Climate activists are taking to the streets across Europe. On Wednesday, however, an attempt to glue in the southern German metropolis of Munich went wrong. The reason: the weather.

At ten o’clock in the city center at Prinzregentenstrasse/Von-der-Tann-Strasse appeared activists of the “last generation”, easily recognizable by their orange vests.

In the heart of Munich, between the Bavarian State Chancellery and the US Consulate General, they wanted to cling to the street – even though the city had actually forbidden them to do so by general decree until January 8.

But at 3 degrees below zero, pasting just didn’t work. The police also told “Bild”: “Gluing was not possible due to the weather.”

Instead, they rely on a new form of protest, according to a press release from the “Last Generation.”

Next to a barrel that read ‘Uhu’ in large letters, two protesters in wetsuits poured pasta over each other. They held a banner in their hands with the inscription “What is likely to happen on Tuesday?”

Fire and police must intervene

The fire brigade had to come and bind the pasta. The climate stickers were removed from the street by the police.

It is still unclear what will happen next Tuesday. Nine activists are currently in protective custody in Bavarian prisons. The climate protesters taunted the city on Twitter: “Munich bans us from staying? We’re bathing in glue!” (nad)
