According to Gallyamov, Kurilin has US citizenship and good international connections. He graduated from Hayward University in California and has held leadership positions at the energy company BP, among others.

Gallyamov claims Rosneft’s deputy officially resigned in the summer to secretly devote himself entirely to “Operation Noah’s Ark”. However, Newsweek magazine writes that Kurilin will continue to officially hold his Rosneft post.
