28 Moroccans flee after emergency landing in Barcelona

On Wednesday morning, a Pegasus Airlines plane took off from Casablanca to Istanbul with 228 passengers. But the flight had to make an emergency landing in Barcelona. Reason for this: a woman who was five months pregnant said that her water had burst.

The pilot decided to land in between, reports the Catalan daily “La Vanguardia”. Arriving at El Prat Airport in Barcelona, not only did the woman get off the plane, but 28 Moroccans suddenly ran away and tried to flee.

Video footage shows the fugitives running in different directions. It is therefore suspected that although they had planned the emergency landing, no further thought was given to the escape itself.

Not the first time

Of the escapees, 14 were arrested within the first hour on the airport grounds, eight of them voluntarily turned themselves in, the other six showed resistance. The remaining 14 are still fugitives and are wanted.

In the hospital it turned out that the pregnant woman had only faked everything. She is still being questioned.

commercial break

Something similar happened in November last year. The plane had the same route from Casablanca to Istanbul. A Moroccan man then pretended to be in a diabetic coma. The pilot decided to make an emergency landing at Palma de Mallorca airport. More than 20 passengers then fled. They have been arrested and are still awaiting trial. (lrc)
