As overnight rain drenched the streets of Southern California, last week a string of three fatal accidents occurred in Santa Clarita at the same location. In the third – and probably the most spectacular – a truck crashed at the scene of the second’s accident. A road user captured the moment on video:
The pile-ups all occurred at the Highway 14/Freeway 5 interchange. In the second accident, several cars and a semi-trailer collided. About 150 liters of fuel spilled onto the road.
Rescue workers were on hand to clear the situation when the truck fell off one of the top lanes, causing the third accident. It is still unclear how exactly the driver lost control of the wheel. Two people had to be taken to hospital. (lzo)
