Former NATO Secretary General criticizes Switzerland’s neutrality Selenskyj celebrates return of prisoners of war ++ Marin thinks Europe is not strong enough

Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has no sympathy for Switzerland’s neutrality in the war in Ukraine. He does not understand the decision of the Bundesrat that Germany is not allowed to supply Swiss ammunition for Cheetah tanks to Ukraine.

Switzerland surprised him incredibly – but not in a good sense, Fogh Rasmussen told the CH-Media newspapers. He could not understand the decision of the Federal Council.

Europe is in an existential struggle between democracy and autocracy. No country in the world can remain neutral. That makes no sense.

Switzerland is an established democracy. “When our values are attacked by an autocrat, be it Russian President Vladimir Putin or Chinese President Xi Jinping, a country cannot just stand out,” continued Fogh Rasmussen.

He simply cannot understand why, instead of supplying much-needed ammunition, Switzerland is putting obstacles in front of Germany. This decision will certainly hurt Switzerland economically. In the future, NATO members will have to think twice before outsourcing the production of munitions or other war materials to Switzerland. (sda)
