France Continues To Get Nuclear Material From Russia “Squid Game” Within Reach: “Wednesday” Sets New Netflix Record

Despite Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, France continues to extract nuclear material from Russia. Such a delivery, which was exempt from the far-reaching sanctions, arrived by ship in Dunkirk in northern France on Tuesday, the nuclear technology company Framatome confirmed to the German news agency in Paris on Wednesday. It concerned a supply of material for the Framatome plant in Romans for the production of nuclear fuel for customers, in particular for the French nuclear power plant.

According to the environmental organization Greenpeace, the containers and drums containing natural uranium and enriched uranium were transported by rail and truck. Greenpeace also suspected the Framatome site in Lingen, Emsland, as a possible target, but the company did not confirm this. The investigative news portal Mediapart photographed the loading in the port of Dunkirk.

Despite the French government’s recent decision to order energy group EDF and nuclear company Orano to stop exporting uranium for reprocessing to Russia, nuclear trade between France and Russia is still going well, according to Greenpeace nuclear expert Pauline Boyer. Given the war in Ukraine, this is outrageous and nuclear cooperation with Russia must be completely stopped.

As EDF informed the Mediapart portal, the group ensures that no contractual relationship with Russia violates international sanctions. “The decision to continue certain relations is made in particular in accordance with international sanctions and the obligation not to compromise nuclear safety.” (saw/sda/dpa)
