After the outage occurred at a security checkpoint on Sunday on the way to the gate, operations at Terminal 2 had to be interrupted for about an hour. The man was so tall that he could reach for control over a barrier and take his hand luggage with him, the government of Upper Bavaria announced on Tuesday. The Bavarian radio had reported about it for the first time.
“The section of the check lane in question is behind a Plexiglas barrier, so passengers would not normally be able to access their luggage at this point,” explained a government spokesman, where the Air Office South responsible for the checks is located. “However, the passenger’s impressive size enabled him to remove the piece of baggage in a brief unnoticed moment by reaching over the barrier before the screening process was finally completed.”
The man who wanted to go to Barcelona then ran towards the gate, where he was stopped and checked by the German federal police. A spokesman for the federal police said he could not explain why he had not checked his luggage. (SDA)
