Climate activists fail at the Elbphilharmonie

In addition to the runway at Berlin Airport, the climate chaos group “Last Generation” has literally found a stage in Hamburg. On Wednesday they struck at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg: activists from the climate protest group say they glued themselves to the conductor’s stage during a concert.

A video that the activists themselves posted on Twitter shows the scenes of the protest. Dressed in high-visibility vests, they called for action in the fight against climate change. The campaign seems to have been anything but well received by viewers. In addition to “Silence” and “Oh, no”, there were loud boos from the audience.

Did the viewers laugh at you?

However, those responsible for the concert hall made short work of it: because the safety bar on the conductor’s desk was not screwed down, they were able to immediately lead the activists and the bar out of the hall – much to the delight of the audience . The staff of the Elbphilharmonie received a round of applause for escorting the activists outside.

The action was also sharply criticized on Twitter. “Frankly, it’s just embarrassing. Those who take climate seriously are ashamed of you. Your actions will achieve nothing at all except rejection for the subject,” one user wrote under a photo of the activists. Another writes: ” Did the audience laugh at you or did the audience just shake their heads because of your strange action?”

As the police later announced, the two activists were taken into custody after the action. In recent weeks, climate activists have caused a stir across Europe with various actions. They blocked roads and attacked paintings by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet and Francisco Goya, among others. The activists wanted to demand a stronger commitment against global warming. (dzc/AFP)
