In 2011, Robert and Carmen Geiss first flashed across the screens with their reality documentary “The Geissens – A Terribly Glamorous Family”. For more than a decade, an audience of millions has followed the couple as they travel, shop, drink champagne and spend money.
He did not disclose how much money Robert Geiss had in his account. Until now. The 58-year-old revealed details of a fortune for the first time. “I have the 100 million euros (97 million francs) full,” said the entrepreneur in the current episode of the podcast “OMR”. “That is the pension, that is the basis so that I can still live peacefully at the age of 70.”
He made his first million by selling the fashion brand Uncle Sam. In the mid-eighties he founded the label together with his brother. In 1995, the brand was then sold for 140 million marks. The shares were divided between the two brothers.
Lose with Wirecard
He now invests in real estate and equities, among other things. But his investments are not always crowned with success. “Wirecard cost me money. But thank God there were only a few hundred thousand that were gone,” the millionaire said.
“We don’t feel rich at all.” But Robert Geiss was not aloof. This is mainly because of where he lives. «Monaco has the advantage that we don’t really feel rich. Because people walk around here, your shoes fall off’, the 58-year-old explains. The businessman has been living with his wife on the French Mediterranean coast since the 1990s
“When you enter the harbour, there are boats 100 or even 120 meters long. There are models that cost 500 million euros. That means you just feel normal there. And we also just feel normal. We don’t take off, even if we take the yacht,” says Geiss.
