American superstar Taylor Swift won the 50th American Music Awards again on Sunday night (local time). The 32-year-old was nominated six times and won all six awards, including in the top category “Artist of the Year”.
Swift also received awards for Best Pop Singer, Best Country Singer, Best Music Video (All Too Well: The Short Film), and Best Pop Album (Red (Taylor’s Version)). With 40 trophies to date, the musician has received more AMA awards than any other artist before her. With that, she again broke her own record of 34 awards.
The most nominated Latin star Bad Bunny, on the other hand, only won in two of the eight possible categories. He won the awards for Best Latin Artist and Best Latin Album. Maneskin, the 2021 Italian ESC winners, could look forward to a trophy for the best rock song (“Beggin”) after going away empty-handed last year.
The American Music Awards – together with the Grammys for example – are one of the most important awards in the American music industry. They are awarded in categories such as pop, country, hip-hop, rock and R&B. The nominations are based on the musicians’ album sales figures and fans can vote for the winners online. (sda/dpa)
