Italian police arrested four nuns at a church building for children on Ischia for violence against minors.

The carabinieri announced on Wednesday that it concerns the boss and three sisters. The result of the investigation was a video made by a child in which one of the sisters hit a four-year-old and pulled his hair while others watched. According to police, the footage showed the child’s eight-year-old brother trying to intervene, but was hit by the nun, causing his nose to bleed.

According to the announcement, the facility in Casamicciola Terme in the north of the popular holiday island hosted minors awaiting foster care or adoption and children living there as a result of a court order.

According to their own statements, the investigators found more cases of minors being beaten on the neck or hands with slippers. One of the four sisters went to prison. The other three are no longer allowed to enter the region of Campania, to which Ischia belongs, after a court order. (aeg/sda/dpa)
