Protests in Iran: Another Death Sentence for a Protester

Another demonstrator has been sentenced to death in connection with the systemic protests in Iran. This is reported by the Isna news agency on Tuesday with reference to the judiciary. According to the report, the verdict was justified by the fact that the suspect incited terror by possessing a gun and setting fire to a motorcycle. The death sentence can be appealed, it said.

One protester had already been sentenced to death over the weekend and others were given long prison terms. According to human rights activists, about 15,000 demonstrators have been arrested since the protests began two months ago. According to the Iranian judiciary, more than 1,000 people have already been charged.

The nationwide protests were prompted by the death of Iranian Kurd Mahsa Amini. She died in police custody on September 16 after being arrested by vice squad for violating Islamic dress code.
