Climate activists pour oil on Klimt painting

Another painting was attacked by climate activists. The “Last Generation” group posted a video on Twitter on Tuesday in which a member hurled the black liquid at the famous work “Death and Life.” One of the activists also put his hand on the protective glass.

A spokeswoman for the museum confirmed the incident. “The plant is doing well initially,” she says. Now restorers would take a closer look at the photo.

The activists referred to the Austrian oil and gas group OMV, which supported an open day at the Leopold Museum on Tuesday. “People who are still researching and drilling new oil and gas have blood on their hands – sponsorship can’t wash that away,” they wrote on Twitter. This year, climate activists have already drawn attention to themselves in various museums worldwide with similar actions. (SDA)
