For over 20 years, Jay Leno entertained America as the host of the legendary talk show The Tonight Show. In 2014, he finally handed over the reins to Jimmy Fallon. But it shouldn’t be a final goodbye to show business. The 72-year-old is still on stage with his own programs, but was expected to show up at a financial conference in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

But the appointment was canceled at short notice – and caused the TV star great concern. Because the reason was a “very serious medical emergency,” the organizer said in an email quoting “TMZ” among other things. A few hours later it was clear: Jay Leno had been involved in an accident and had to go to the hospital.

Jay Leno stood up for himself on Monday. He suffered serious burns, but is in stable condition, the former host of the “Tonight Show” confirms to the American industry portal “Variety”. “I’m fine. It will only take me a week or two to get back on my feet,” he said in a statement.

After leaving the talk show, Jay Leno has fully devoted himself to his great hobby: cars and motorcycles. He has collected dozens of copies over the decades. His “Jay Leno’s Garage” column for “Popular Mechanics” magazine even became a TV show in 2015. In it, the presenter travels through the US in the wake of legendary vehicles. (t-online, jdo)
