Apparently, pro-Russian soldiers allegedly brutally murdered a deserter – in front of the camera. It is said to be a former mercenary of the infamous Wagner group. On the social media channels attributed to the Wagner Group, a video is circulating that is supposed to show the crime.
In it, a man named Yevgeny Nuzhin is presented. He says he has decided to fight against Russia. He gives his personal details while his head is taped to a wall on one side. Then a man in military gear hits them with a sledgehammer.
“I hope no animals were injured”
Yevgeny Prigozhin responded to the cruel act through his company’s Telegram channel: “I prefer to watch history in the theatre. As for the sledgehammer, in this show it is clear that he (the soldier) did not find happiness in Ukraine, but met unfriendly but honest people. It seems to me that this movie is called ‘A Dog Sustains the Death of a Dog’. Brilliant directing work, it seems as if it was recorded without a break. I hope no animals were injured during the filming.”
According to Reuters news agency, the murdered man defected to Ukrainian troops in September. In media interviews, he described himself as a convicted murderer who turned himself in to the Wagner mercenaries in prison. He then decided to switch sides. The Wagner group has long been suspected of searching for recruits in Russian prisons and also recruiting convicted violent criminals.
Former Ukrainian deputy interior minister Anton Gerashchenko condemned the act, saying that Russia had become a Nazi regime and had its own SS.
Horrible images of Yevgeniy Nuzhin’s execution by a sledgehammer published yesterday by the Wagner group indicate that Russia has completely turned into a Nazi regime – it now also has its own SS group. Everything that has to do with the Wagner group must become untouchable and illegal. pic.twitter.com/rEyOFxjauf— Anton Gerashchenko (@Gerashchenko_en) Nov 13, 2022
Kok Putin accuses St Petersburg governor of high treason
Yevgeny Prigozhin has long been considered a close confidant of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The owner of a catering company was also called “Putin’s cook”. In recent weeks, however, he and Chechen ruler Ramzan Kadyrov have repeatedly criticized Moscow’s warfare.
In the Telegram channel of his company Concord, Prigozhin then sent another warning: “But do not forget that there are not only traitors who drop their weapons and go to the enemy to betray their people and their homeland. Some traitors are in their offices and do not think about their own people. Some of them fly their own business jets to countries that previously seemed neutral to us. They fly away not to participate in today’s problems. They are also traitors.” He could mean oligarchs who have left Russia.
At the same time, it became known that Prigozhin plans to take action against the governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov. His company asked the attorney general to charge him with treason. The background is still unclear. The Wagner Group opened its headquarters in Russia’s second largest city just a few days ago. Beglov had objected to this. Prigozhin accused him of supporting Ukraine and demanded his resignation. (t-online, when)
