Lot seller gets a million for free

One lucky winner won the jackpot in the American lottery “Powerball” on Tuesday, crushing the record amount of $2.04 billion (2,040,000,000,000) dollars.

And now there is another lucky guy who is rich from winning the lottery. It is Joseph Chahayed (74), the seller of the multi-billion ticket. He is also a millionaire.

The store owner of Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, northeast of Los Angeles, where the winning ticket was sold, will receive a million dollar Powerball bonus! This is what this particular lottery offers.

He still wants to keep working

“I’m very surprised. Excited. Very happy,” the grandfather, who came to the US from Syria in the 1980s, told CBS. Still, as usual, he wants to go to the store at 6 o’clock to work. “Money is not that important, love is much more important,” he says.

He doesn’t know who bought the jackpot ticket. But he hopes it’s someone close by.

With his own windfall he will help his five children. “My son is expecting a baby in two months, we are really looking forward to it,” said Chahayed. “We can have a nice party for another baby.” The Syrian also wants to donate a part to the community.

One of his sons, Danny Chahayed, is overjoyed by his father’s bonus. He earned the money. “He’s a very hard-working man,” he told the LA Times. “He gets up at five o’clock every day. No one deserves it like him.” (Human)
