The “midterm” elections will decide who will rule in Congress in the future, what US President Joe Biden (79) can do politically in the next two years and how many Republicans in parliament can bully him. Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump’s party had hoped for an overwhelming victory. But that doesn’t happen.

After a long election night, it is still unclear in the early morning hours (local time) in the US which party in Washington will control the Senate and House of Representatives in the future. Wednesday morning, however, it was clear that the Democrats held up better than predicted before the election.
