Pure chaos: Twitter ‘accidentally’ asks fired workers to return Man deliberately hits wedding guests in Spain – four dead

Chaotic circumstances: Twitter apparently asks laid-off workers to return.
According to a Bloomberg report, after Elon Musk’s mass layoff, Twitter is contacting former employees and asking them to come back. Some terminations happened by accident.

After Elon Musk took over Twitter for $44 billion, he got it done. In addition to the management, he also fired about half of all employees.

Perhaps he was a little hasty in his approach. Because now the American news magazine Bloomberg reports that Twitter is turning to dozens of employees who were previously fired and asking for their return.

Some of the people are said to have been fired “accidentally”, it is said. Others would have received the blue letter before the SMS service’s new leadership realized that their work and experience might be needed — for example, to develop new features specifically planned by Elon Musk. Bloomberg refers to two sources within Twitter. According to the magazine, they wish to remain anonymous.

Last week, after the turbulent, sometimes chaotic takeover by Elon Musk, Twitter caused a stir with a radical haircut. Some 3,700 employees were quickly fired to reduce costs enormously.

Twitter has been in the red lately under the former leadership of CEO Jack Dorsey. Musk tweeted on Saturday that unfortunately there was no option but to downsize as the company was losing $4 million a day.

According to Bloomberg, the pressure on the other employees is enormous. Musk would advocate the rapid development of new features, which is why employees even stayed in the office overnight.

Many of the planned new features are aimed at monetizing Twitter and making the company profitable. For example, the blue verification checkmark will cost eight dollars a month in the future.

Elon Musk doesn’t just want to steer the popular SMS service in a new direction in monetary terms, he has also repeatedly confirmed that he wants to turn Twitter into a platform for “citizen journalism”. He repeatedly stressed the importance of free speech and also denounced established newspapers such as the New York Times, saying they undermined free speech.

Because of Musk’s statements, there were concerns that Twitter could neglect the moderation of content in the future and thus also provide a platform for conspiracy theories, for example. Recently, however, Musk claimed that content moderation will continue and that this department will not be affected by the downsizing either.
