Kosovo (92) spent half of his life in Switzerland

“I came to Switzerland about 44 years ago, but it feels like I’ve lived here all my life. i love this country It made me the happiest man on earth,” said Hazi Sopi (92), Kosovar by birth, through “Albora.ch”, a news site for the Albanian-speaking diaspora in Switzerland. The senior was a guest on their “Fol Shqip Show” and talked about his life.

“I’ve worked in construction all my life,” he says. “I loved this work very much.” Switzerland offered him many opportunities. “I can’t say a bad word about this country.” Life is easier here than in Kosovo. There is great poverty in his homeland.

Yet his birthplace Kamenica in eastern Kosovo will always have a special place in his heart. Sopi’s greatest wish is to be able to spend the rest of his life there. “This is where my life began and this is where I want to end it,” says the 92-year-old.

“Don’t let go of Kosovo!”

Even if he really enjoyed life in Switzerland, he would never have forgotten Kosovo. He wants it to be the same for future generations. “Don’t let go of Kosovo!” he calls on the Kosovar young people living abroad. At 92 years old, he may be old, but he still feels good. He has no pain or other complaints. He is now happy to spend the last few years in Kosovo.

His son never lost touch with his homeland. That was important to him. He was also a guest on the “Fol Shqip Show”. It is Bajram Sopi (65), who is known as a cowboy Albanian. He has a huge farm in Sursee LU with many animals. Fish, hedgehogs, goats and birds. He has created his own paradise. He is currently not intended to return to his home country. (Hi)
