The special fire engine, which had to lift the truck but got stuck in a traffic jam, was apparently unnecessary: the lifting alone “probably took longer and the medical situation deteriorated”. The emergency doctor did not switch on the rescue vehicle, even if it had arrived on time, the newspaper reports.
The note had already been sent to the Berlin senator for the Interior on Tuesday afternoon. After the accident, discussions about the ‘last generation’ flared up. For months they had blocked roads in the capital almost every day.
