Tragic accident in Romania: On Tuesday, a car with Swiss number plates left the road between the towns of Dobreşti and Topoloveni, crashed into a pole, was thrown into a tree and ended up in a ditch, completely destroyed. This is reported by local media.

The passenger († 19), a Romanian from the region, dies at the scene of the accident. Research by Blick now shows: Alex E.* (28), the partner of “Lion’s Cave” judge Anja Graf (45), was at the wheel. The Swiss self-made millionaire, who together with VisionApartements rents out furnished corporate studios worldwide, lived a few kilometers from the accident site until the summer. The car was exchanged at Vision AG.

Was the driver drinking?

According to the newspaper “Ziarul Argesul”, Graf’s partner was so badly injured that he had to be taken to a special clinic in Bucharest. E. was in mortal danger after the accident.

Local emergency services at the scene had noticed the smell of alcohol in the driver’s breath. However, due to the serious injuries, a breath alcohol test could not be performed. The blood samples taken are still being examined. The two men are said to be on their way to a birthday party.

Anja Graf immediately flew to Bucharest

Anja Graf is shocked. “I was in St. Moritz when the accident happened. Alex’s brother called me,” she tells Blick. She immediately got in the car and drove off to go to Zurich and fly to Romania. She arrived in Bucharest on Wednesday afternoon.

“Alex had surgery this morning and is waking up now.” Doctors say he is now stable. “I don’t feel well at all. I’m on my way to the hospital now,” says Graf.

In the summer, Alex E. and Anja Graf temporarily separated. “We also went to separate events,” she says. “But an event like this might bring people back together,” she says hopefully. “In the past few hours I realized how much he means to me. He is still one of the most important people to me. The divorce came from me – but I want to try again with him. Because now I realize what it would be like if he were missing from my life.”

From the modeling agency to the business apartments

The Winterthur-born woman began her career as a model and, after leaving business school, started her own modeling agency as a teenager. When the models needed shelter, she arranged their own apartments for them.

The demand for these apartments grew so quickly that Graf soon bought the first property in the 4 district of Zurich. In 1999, she founded her real estate company which expanded worldwide and eventually made her a millionaire. The “Tages-Anzeiger” once described Anja Graf as an “apartment queen”. Two years ago, VisionApartments expanded to Romania.

In the meantime, she rents out thousands of company apartments worldwide, which she has set up individually together with her team. A furniture retailer and an IT solution for company apartments followed, which she also markets. Graf grew up in Winterhur, lived in Zurich, Warsaw and the last three years in Bucharest. She also has a vacation home in St. Moritz and has four children, ages 10 to 21, but none with her partner who was in an accident.
