Thousands of Instagram accounts suddenly gone

What’s going on with Instagram? When some users open the app on Monday, they realize that their account has simply been deleted.

Unsafe readers also report to Blick. «A friend’s profile and also that of my brother’s colleagues were simply deleted. I now suddenly have fewer followers,” writes one reader. “I can’t access my account anymore. I’m afraid it has now been completely deleted because you can’t find me with the search function anymore,” wrote one reader.

According to observations from Blick readers, these are all accounts of real people and not spam bots.

Global Disruption

The website Allestoerungen.ch has registered more than 500 malfunction reports on Instagram. Most can’t log in. The outage has apparently been going on since 2:36 p.m.

And not only Swiss users are affected, users in Austria, Italy and Great Britain can no longer register as well. Meanwhile, the hashtag #instagramdown has been circulating on Twitter. The background of the outage is not yet clear.

The Instagram PR team wrote on Twitter: “We are aware that some of you are having trouble accessing your Instagram account. We are investigating this and apologize for the inconvenience.” (Man)
