Russia has called the Dutch ambassador to the fore, reports the Russian news agency RIA Novosti. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the British secret service in The Hague tried to recruit a Russian diplomat.
In a statement, Russia says the Netherlands must stop pro-Netherlands countries like Britain from taking such “unfriendly” measures. The Ministry emphasizes that the Netherlands itself should also refrain from doing so. “The authorities not only do not stop such illegal actions, but participate in them themselves.”
During the conversation with the ambassador, according to RIA Novosti, it was emphasized that “such provocative actions are unacceptable” and violate international treaties. According to the Russians, such provocations have increased in recent years.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet responded.
