Ukrainian Football President: “Russia and Iran from FIFA and UEFA”
Andriy Pavelko, President of the Football Union of Ukraine, has called for the exclusion of Russia and Iran from FIFA and the European Football Union FIFA. Russian clubs have already been banned from international competitions because of the invasion of Ukraine, but the Russian Federation is still a member of the two football organizations.
The chairman also mentions the involvement of clubs from the Crimea by Russia in its own competitions on ARD. In his view, this is against the rules because the annexation of the peninsula in 2014 violated international law. “That calls for expulsion from FIFA and UEFA.”
Banned in Iran
Pavelko also wants to ban Iran from the football associations who took part in the World Cup. The country would supply drones to Russia, an accusation Iran denies. “The national team is a direct reflection of this country. Therefore, it is not possible for either Russia or Iran to separate the country’s football teams.”
