At least 59 people have been killed and 150 others injured during Halloween celebrations in Seoul. The South Korean news agency Yonhap reported this on Sunday evening based on information from the authorities.
Dozens of people were previously reported to have gone into cardiac arrest while rushing to the Halloween celebrations. As the news agency reported, rescuers had to perform CPR on at least 50 people. The tragedy took place in Itaewon, a nightlife district in the South Korean capital.
Images posted to social media showed dozens of people lying on the ground and civilians giving chest compressions as rescuers arrived. Apparently there was a crowd.
A fire service spokesman told the AFP news agency that more than 140 ambulances had been dispatched to the scene.
