Russians radio about nuclear attack on Germany

Just a few weeks before Vladimir Putin’s (70) attack on Ukraine, seemingly terrifying scenarios were being discussed on the radio. Within the Russian army there was talk of a nuclear attack on Germany. The “Mirror” reports this on the basis of safety circuits.

According to the report, Western intelligence agencies intercepted radio messages from the Russian navy from a maneuver in the Baltic Sea in late 2021. The soldiers had talked about three targets on German soil. It was about Berlin, the American airbase in Ramstein and the airbase Büchel. That’s where the Americans keep their atomic bombs.

Was Scholz so reserved?

According to “t-online” the port of Hamburg was also mentioned. The intercepted communications may explain Olaf Scholz’s unwillingness to provide weapons.

But what does this radio exchange about nuclear targets in Germany mean? As the “Spiegel” reports, security experts from the Western services are interpreting the radio messages differently.

No danger and intimidation?

On the one hand, it is said that it is customary for the use of nuclear weapons to be discussed and practiced in a military exercise. This also happens during NATO maneuvers. It’s not a real danger.

Other experts, on the other hand, believe it is possible that the Russian military made the statements deliberately. This in the knowledge that he is being bugged. They wanted to intimidate and instill fear in the West. (EU)
