Christian B. (47) has been on trial for three brutal rapes and two charges of child sexual abuse for a few weeks. But above all, he is the main suspect in the case of Madeleine McCann, who has been missing for about seventeen years. In May 2007, then three-year-old Maddie disappeared from an apartment in Portugal.

The German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) is now investigating a car in which B. once drove. The vehicle is a white Mercedes Sprinter – the same model he is said to have driven in Portugal 17 years ago, as the British ‘Sun’ reported. Could it be the car in which little Maddie was kidnapped?

DNA traces in the car?

The Mercedes, which is now under investigation, was parked on B.’s property in Neuwegersleben in Saxony-Anhalt (D). B. allegedly parked it there shortly after Maddie’s disappearance before returning the rental car. Child porn photos, videos and texts were also found on the abandoned factory site.

The car was rented from a car dealer in Braunschweig. According to an employee, the vehicle was cleaned after its return, but it cannot be ruled out that “there are still hairs and other traces of people who were held in it.” The researchers responsible now hope to find remnants of Maddie’s DNA in the sprinter.
