In the Milan municipality of Assago, a man stabbed several people with a knife in a shopping center. A 30-year-old store employee succumbed to his injuries, Lombardy region president Attilio Fontana wrote on Facebook on Thursday evening. At least four others were injured.

According to Italian media, professional football player Pablo Mari, who is under contract with Monza, is one of the seriously injured victims. The 29-year-old is currently in Niguarda Hospital and undergoing intensive treatment there. Monza CEO Adriano Galliani told Rai TV that Mari had a deep wound on her shoulder but was conscious. He also suffered no injuries to vital organs.
