Germans spend about 16.5 million euros on Halloween candy

This is how high the turnover was last autumn, according to market researchers and the Federal Association of the German Confectionery Industry expects a similar volume this year. Actual sales of confectionery around October 31 should therefore be “considerably” higher, as a large proportion of the confectionery distributed are so-called year-round items.

In the US, Halloween and Valentine’s Day are the most important candy festivals of the year. In Germany, these are traditionally Christmas and Easter. (AFP)
