Around 1 a.m., the Czech police had to go to the Mánes Bridge in Prague. They had received a report that a tourist (28) had fallen into the ice-cold water. An officer’s video shows a man screaming loudly for help.
There was a well-known restaurant boat on the Vltava near the site of the accident, as “Bild” reports. The police could only reach the drowning man by boat. The problem: the floating restaurant was locked.
Released after hospital stay
Fortunately, the supervisor was still on the boat and the two officers were able to board. They drifted towards the tourist and were able to save him. In the police video, the exhausted man can be heard whimpering as he is pulled from the river.
The 28-year-old was then carried by rescuers to an ambulance and taken to hospital. After treatment, the man was released, but the night did not end there.
“Fell and lay in the middle of the road”
“Instead of going home, a few minutes later the man inexplicably ran into the street, fell and ended up lying in the middle of the road,” a police spokesperson said.
Fortunately for the tourist, two police officers were immediately on the scene and were able to block the road with a patrol car and carry the man off the asphalt. It is unclear whether he was drunk or under the influence of drugs. The Czech police have also not revealed his nationality. (obf)
