The initiative will exhaust all constitutional remedies to prevent an eviction,” said a statement from the “Stop Tesla” initiative. The initiative has so far left open what concrete steps it wants to take.

On Friday, parliament confirmed an expansion of the camp under certain conditions. The condition is that the activists must have dismantled their tree houses by Monday. The activists had already announced that they did not want to meet this demand. Brandenburg’s Interior Minister Michael Stübgen said he saw this as a violation of the demands, which could potentially mean the end of the meeting.

The activists’ goal is to prevent the forest from being cleared as part of a planned expansion of the Tesla site to include a freight station. A majority of the citizens of Grünheide voted against expansion. The municipality of Grünheide proposes to cut down only about half of the forest.
