The company’s board of directors had already called for an end to the war in Ukraine in March 2022. Lukoil produces about 2 percent of the world’s crude oil. The company has suffered greatly from the US sanctions against Russia. There were no EU sanctions.
Robertus is the fourth Lukoil manager to die under mysterious circumstances since the start of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
