He calls himself the “advertising master”, wears a luminous uniform and ensures order on the streets of Germany: Niclas Matthei (18) rigorously reports every parking violator. To do this, he takes out his mobile phone and enters each violation into an app – including photos as evidence.
He has now written more than 4,000 advertisements and has earned the state more than 140,000 euros (134,000 francs) in fines. This is why the 18-year-old is called “the biggest sneak in Germany” on the Internet. Only: that’s not true.
16 advertisements per day
The app that Matthei uses is called “Wegeheld”. This means that illegal parking can be reported in no time. Kill easily. Rankings can also be found on the app’s website. Matthei only occupied second place for 2023 with 4,226 advertisements. A deputy sheriff is even tougher than the “advertising chief.”
In first place is a certain “Bongokarl” with no less than 6,008 advertisements – only for the year 2023! That’s 16 ads per day. “Bongokarl” is the absolute advertising champion.
‘Bongokarl’ also took first place in the ‘All-Time Lead’ ranking, i.e. without time restrictions – with a total of 14,234 advertisements. Anonymous D is in second place with 13,361 advertisements. The “most important advertising champion” cannot yet be found in this ranking. But if he continues at this pace, things will get tight for the previous park sneakers.
Park jokes with humor
It is unclear who is hiding behind the pseudonym ‘Bongokarl’. But maybe he’s a fan of ‘bath salts’. The comedian duo released a CD in the early 1990s with the song ‘Bongo Karl’.
It’s about a man who sits on a park bench in the summer and plays his bongos. His name: Bongo-Karl. An older lady traveling with her dachshund sits down next to Bongo-Karl, but gets up again after a short time because she can’t stand the drums. But the dachshund remains. Bongo-Karl and the dachshund fall in love, get married – and have been on the couch every day since.
