Bad luck in gold mine: man dies in Australia after collapse Biden against Trump for the second time: new edition of the duel after primaries final

A miner has been killed in the collapse of a gold mine in Australia. Another worker was seriously injured by falling boulders at the mine near the city of Ballarat in Victoria state, police said Thursday.

The 21-year-old was released and flown to a hospital. Authorities announced that 28 miners were able to escape to safety in a bomb shelter after the accident on Wednesday evening. They were freed from the mine and medically examined.

The mine operator initially did not want to make any statements about the accident. Ballarat Mayor Des Hudson was shocked by the accident. “We are a community built on gold,” he told AFP news agency. “Gold still plays a big role in Ballarat.”

The gold mine is located about a two-hour drive west of the city of Melbourne. There was already a collapse there in 2007, but no one was injured. In 2021, unions expressed safety concerns and authorities denounced shortcomings in the mine’s safety concept. (sda/afp)
