Joko and Klaas sacrifice airtime for protests in Iran – the internet loves it Joko and Klaas sacrifice airtime for protests in Iran – the internet loves it

Another successful campaign by the two TV kings: during 15 minutes of prime time they focus entirely on the Iranian revolution.

Joko and Klaas brought their employers to their knees on “Joko & Klaas against ProSieben” on Tuesday evening – and again earned 15 minutes of extra airtime on Wednesday. This time it was about the protests in Iran, where thousands are rising up against an oppressive regime, even at the risk of their own lives.

The trigger for the mass protests was the death of 22-year-old Iranian Kurd Mahsa Amini, who died in connection with her arrest. These protests have been going on for a good 40 days.

Solidarity with Iranian women

Joko and Klaas had already caused a stir during the day: suddenly all posts on the personal Instagram channels of the two were removed. They had exchanged their profile picture for this. The new one only referred to “Joko and Klaas live” in the evenings. It was therefore clear in advance that there had to be a connection between the action and the fifteen minutes played.

In the evening on primetime, Klaas explains in the clip:

“If you go to a demonstration in Iran for normal fundamental rights, you may be literally beaten to death by the police on behalf of the government.”

The moderators’ idea: They give up their Instagram channels and make their empire available to two Iranian activists – not just temporarily, but forever. “To be effective, our attention must be sustained and reliable,” explains Joko.

In the future, women’s rights activist Azam Jangravi will post on Joko’s Instagram channel, while Klaas’s profile will be taken over by Sarah Ramani of the “The Voice of the Streets” movement.

To underline the importance of the case, ProSieben showed minutes of photos of the protests in Iran, as well as of the brutal actions of the security forces on the ground.

Joko and Klaas celebrated by fans

“Joko and Klaas live” was widely praised on social networks. “Thank you for giving the courageous people out there a voice! 15 incredibly important minutes – thank you!!! », for example, this user is enthusiastic.

Another user is very moved and writes: “you are amazing I cry.»

And here it finally says: “THIS is a sign. THESE are role models. THOSE are my idols.”

The entertainers’ home station also spoke in the evening – and had to correct another station. SWR3 had reported: “Joko and Klaas ‘handed over’ their Insta accounts to two Iranian activists – apparently forever”. Now, ProSieben pointed out that the transfer is not just “seemingly” forever, but certain.
