During a weekend in mid-February, Angela Chao (†50) organized a big party at her ranch in Texas to celebrate Chinese New Year. Late in the evening she gets into her Tesla Model
However, the 50-year-old did not survive the journey. She was found dead in her Tesla in a body of water on the property. As the Wall Street Journal reports, Chao had called friends in a panic shortly before her death. They rushed to the scene, but all rescue attempts failed.
Transmission problems before
According to initial investigations, the tragic death is likely the result of operator error. Angela Chao allegedly accidentally drove the vehicle into the water during a three-point turn maneuver. She would have had problems with the gearbox before.
After rescue attempts by friends, the ranch manager, paramedics, firefighters and sheriffs also rushed to the scene. But none of them managed to free the woman from the sinking car. She died at the scene of the accident.
Don’t blame Tesla
Angela Chao was a billionaire and CEO of the American shipping company Foremost Group, which she inherited from her father. She was also the sister-in-law of Mitch McConnell (82), a Republican senator from the American state of Kentucky.
Chaosman Jim Breyer (62) is a venture capitalist and billionaire. The 62-year-old now faces murder charges, which he vehemently denies. He also does not blame Tesla for the death of his wife; he and his family are big fans of the car brand. (obf)
