Passengers traveling to Gothenburg, Sweden on Lufthansa flight LH818 on Saturday had to make an unscheduled stopover in Hamburg. The plane coming from Frankfurt made an emergency landing there. Because: According to Lufthansa, a “short-lived local smoke development” was observed in the air.
As the company announced upon request, the crew declared a state of emergency in accordance with regulations to obtain permission to land in Hamburg. The plane was able to land on the ground without any problems and taxi to the gate.
Smoke came from the coffee machine
The passengers were able to leave the plane normally. However, they must now remain at Hamburg airport until a replacement plane takes them to Gothenburg. According to Lufthansa, this should happen that same evening.
