The voluntary commitment comes after consumer advocates discovered that Tinder was offering customers personalized prices without telling them. This is contrary to EU consumer law.

For example, users who were not interested in premium subscriptions at the standard price were automatically recognized by the app to receive personalized discounts. However, they were not aware of this, it was said. Furthermore, the app offered lower prices for its premium services based on users’ age until April 2022, also without notifying users.

Like many other dating apps, Tinder offers different memberships. Depending on how much users pay, more features are available. Premium users can find dates all over the world or be shown to others more quickly.
