Tech war enters next round: OpenAI fires against Musk G20 finance ministers meeting ends without final statement

ChatGPT developer company OpenAI has responded to a lawsuit from Elon Musk with its own allegations against the tech billionaire.

Musk sought “complete control” over OpenAI and the company’s leadership position, co-founders of the startup led by boss Sam Altman wrote in a blog article on Tuesday. In 2018, he also advocated merging OpenAI with the electric car manufacturer Tesla, which he leads. Musk initially did not comment on the statement, which appears to be based largely on emails from the time.

The technology billionaire sued OpenAI last week. The gist of this is that the company co-founded by Musk in 2015 has deviated from the agreed path of being a non-profit company whose artificial intelligence research should benefit humanity. Now major investor Microsoft in particular is benefiting from this – for Musk a “flagrant violation” of the original founding agreement.

The founders of OpenAI announced that they wanted to have Musk’s lawsuit dismissed in court. It was sad that someone they deeply admired had now gone to court after making significant progress without him. Musk gave OpenAI “zero” chances of success when he left the startup. Instead, he planned to develop artificial intelligence under the Tesla umbrella.

ChatGPT is an AI chatbot that created unprecedented hype about artificial intelligence a year ago – with expectations ranging from some kind of digital paradise for everyone to fears that humanity will be wiped out. AI chatbots such as ChatGPT are trained with enormous amounts of information and can formulate texts at the language level of a human. The principle behind this is that they estimate word by word how a sentence should proceed. (sda/dpa)
